Losing Reality
Well, this is the fourth poem I've written this summer. I didn't get to write it in the notebook I usually write in, because I gave that to my father to publish my other three poems, and as you can tell, he did an excelent job with that.
There's a good story behind this poem...Last year I was having some trouble on staff. I felt like I wanted to quit, I wasn't having any fun, and I was generally being treated like crap. Well, a very good staff member took me in and helped me out, and we became good friends.
This year, it seems that I've lost that friendship, though I have gained another good friend. For every gain, there must be a loss...
Losing Reality
For every Gain,
a Loss
Not every Loss
a Gain
For Friendship
has a cost:
One Starts,
One Dies in Vain
Yet when
I sit and Count
the Losses
and the Gains
I see
Defenses mount
and Fall
inside the Rain
For though
We Live in Light
The Days
All End in Pain
For all Our Smiles,
Fright
All the Fright
Makes Me Insane
